I wanted to create a realistic Viking shield with some minor wear and tear.

This is a traditional Viking shield made of wood and leather bindings. This particular shield has a leather face that has been glued onto the front for added protection and support. It is bound together using leather and nails as well as a metal boss that is used to protect the hand of the user as well as drive an opponents weapon away.

This particular shield had a grip that could be used like a hinge allowing the user to maneuver and adapt their shield to protect both sides of their body. This allowed the shield to work in tandem with the wielders sword or axe swings.
